Dan D’Onorio (Soulfistikato)

The host of Toronto’s $100 Slam for all four years, Dan D’Onorio is an Italian-Canadian poet, activist, and community co-ordinator residing in Brampton Ontario. Beginning in 2005, Dan quickly rose up the ranks of the spoken word scene with well thought inspirational work that led him to being selected to Canada’s first team to represent at the Rust Belt Regional Slam (US Midwest), the 2006 Toronto Slam Family Team. Dan has also qualified for the finals at the Toronto based Up From the Roots slam series and has toured extensively throughout the US Midwest.

Dan has co-ordinated and taught poetry workshops for the Peel District School Board, Peel Catholic School Board, and the Thorncliffe Resource Centre. He also has taught writing and acted as a mentor for the YEAH Project a Brampton based initiative that uses music and urban culture to help kids deal with various issues. In all, Dan is involved in seven non-profit or charitable organisations that aid young immigrant, troubled and minority youth including Game Day, an initiative of the Toronto Argos and former Olympic Athletes.

In 2008 Dan released his first spoken word CD “Primi Passi: Verses of Progress”
